Truth and Reconciliation

Provided By Oci
The truth telling and reconciliation process is part of an overall holistic and comprehensive response to the Indian Residential School legacy. It is an acknowledgement of the injustices and harms experienced by Indigenous peoples of Canada, and the need for continued healing. Our Truth and Reconciliation presentation is a 45-minute overview followed by a 15-minute safe space Q&A. The presentation covers:
- Residential Schools in Canada
- Truth and Reconciliation
- Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement
- What is the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation
- TRC Calls to Action
- Implementing the TRC Calls to Action
Hosted by Bryan Hansen and moderated by Jessica Lockyer from OCI, participants will leave with this session with a high-level exposure to the 94 Calls to Action and the progress made on each. Participants will also have an understanding of the legacy of Residential Schools in Canada, the importance of the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement, and how they can contribute to the Calls to Action.
